United4Equality’s Carolyn Cook Chosen for Alice Paul Award

The Alice Paul Institute, of Mount Laurel, NJ, has announced the recipients of the 2013 Alice Paul Equality Awards. Honorees are Carolyn Cook, president, United 4 Equality; Letitia G. Colombi, former mayor of Haddonfield; Elaine Jacoby, a lawyer with Duane Morris, LLP; Donna M. Massanova, partner and employee benefit plans practice leader for ParenteBeard, LLC; Dianne Mills McKay, Chair, Council on Gender Parity in Labor and Education, New Jersey State Department of Labor and Workforce Development; and Patricia Teffenhart, executive director, New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

The awards are named in memory of Alice Stokes Paul. Born in Mount Laurel, Paul dedicated her life to securing equal rights for all women, including the final campaign for women’s right to vote. She authored the Equal Rights Amendment and initiated gender equality principles in both the United Nations Charter and in the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Honorees can come from any industry or field so they capture the spirit of Alice Paul and continue her mission of advancing women’s equality in America.

The awards will be presented at a dinner on March 20.
