Why We Still Need the ERA

Many Americans think men and women are already equal under the law. But these 24 simple words have been kicking around for 169 years without being ratified as an amendment to the Constitution:

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
